It is stunning to me that it took so long to discover my own ignorance of the Holy Scriptures. Like many evangelicals, I was surrounded by Christians who fawned over all things Jewish. “The Jews are God’s Chosen people,” they proclaimed! If I heard it once I heard it a thousand times, more than “Jesus Christ will rule the nations with a rod of iron,” which is actually in the Holy Scriptures.
A few deceived (to be generous) men created a legend, a myth, a tradition of man that went something like this:
If you give money or succor to a Jew, you guarantee your way to heaven based upon Matthew 25:31-46. And if you don’t support the Jews you go to hell. This is as twisted an interpretation of the Scripture as Satan himself could possibly do.
Jews are not the brothers of Jesus Christ.
Christ’s brethren are those who do the will of the Father.
What is the will of the Father?
The will of the Father is to believe in Jesus Christ. John 6:40
Jews — those who reject Jesus Christ — are not the brothers of Jesus Christ. The brothers of Jesus Christ are those who do the will of the Father, which is to believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ specifically disowned his own mother and brothers and sisters as his brethren stating categorically that only those doing the will of the Father are his brethren.
While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”
But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50
It is the Jews, from the birth of Jesus to his death, tried to murder Jesus Christ and eventually succeeded.
The brethren of Jesus Christ — the Chosen People — are those baptized in Jesus Christ and boldly confessing Him as Ruler of every nation.
